Original version of Cafetín

El Cafetín

The song Cafetín was written during a month-long summer break in Spain. Julie rented an apartment in the old town of Valencia, took along her ukulele and spent many afternoons fine-tuning the lyrics and chords to this and the track, "Some are Lost", which also feature on our first album. What was meant to be a relaxing break away in the sunshine, became a rather monotonous and lonely time. Cafetín was composed while walking alongside the train station in the city on a beautiful summer's day. It is named after the tiny coffee shop that Julie spent many afternoons.

Julie's Watercolour Paintings

Changing Roles

This watercolour shows the inside of the coffee shop and plays on the humor of the owner, who has Barbies hanging off the lights and on the walls. Julie decided to switch the roles of the staff with the Barbies.

Inside Out

The view from "Cafetín" blended with snapshots from the inside decoration of the coffee shop.

Street Art

There is graffiti all over Valencia. In this painting Julie blended the street art with a representation of a traditional style of Valencian pot.
